Engraving from Dance of Death (also known as Bilder des Todes or Danse Macabre) series by German artist Hans Holbein the Younger. This image called “Der Opt”(The Abbot) and it’s one of 41 miniature engravings based on the medieval theme of Death. Holbein created original drawings in about 1523 and now Dance of Death is one of the most famous graphic works.
