Richard Ramirez (Ricardo Leyva Muñoz Ramirez), infamously known as the “Night Stalker,” was an American serial killer, rapist, and burglar who terrorized Southern California between 1984 and 1985. Ramirez exhibited a particularly disturbing pattern of behavior, leaving satanic symbols and messages at crime scenes. His reign of terror ended when he was captured on August 31, 1985, after being recognized by civilians, who then subdued him until police arrived. Ramirez remained on death row until his death in 2013 due to complications from B-cell lymphoma.
